Skiing history of Vorarlberg up close!

The history of skiing in Vorarlberg goes back some 130 years. It is the subject of the Vorarlberg FIS Ski Museum Damüls, housed in the Damüls vicarage.

Christian Lingenhöle built up an extensive collection of historical skis over decades, which became the basis of the Vorarlberg Ski Museum in Damüls after his retirement. In addition to skis, the collection also includes equipment, clothing, photographs, literature and documents documenting the development of skiing. A particular focus is on the beginnings of skiing in Scandinavia and on Vorarlberg skiing pioneers such as Viktor Sohm, Georg Bilgeri and Hannes Schneider. Another focal point is the history of ski production, which was once characterised by many wainwright businesses in Vorarlberg. The museum also honours the region's successful racing tradition with a large number of medals from the Winter Olympics and World Ski Championships. In addition, the display depot offers a deep insight into Lingenhöle's collection and takes into account the development of skiing in Damüls and beyond.

Admission is free of charge.
